Sepember 2007
Newletter - 09/28/2007
Kim had a busy month, and if in FL as I write this note. She's been in OH and TN, NJ and OK and well as FL.
She has been back in the studio recording a new Christmas Project. Time is short and we need your prayers to help us finish the project in time for the Christmas season and tour.
A sad note, Kim's first pastor died this week, Rex Humbard. Kim was born in Akron,OH area and went to the Cathral of Tomorrow as a child. She'll be a the service this Sunday at the Cathral. If never knew of Rex Humbard, here's so info.
Rex Humbard
Broadcast pioneer and televangelist Rex Humbard died Sept. 21 of natural causes. He was 88. Noted as one of America's first television evangelists, Humbard began broadcasting his show, Cathedral of Tomorrow, to millions in the 1950s from his Ohio-based, 5,400-seat church of the same name. The show aired for three decades on 360 stations across North America and in 91 languages on more than 2,000 stations worldwide. "The vast majority of people do not go to church and the only way we can reach them is through the TV," Humbard wrote in his autobiography, Miracles in My Life. In 1999, Time magazine stated that Humbard "has come closer than any other human being in history ... To preaching the gospel in all of the world. ... More than any other evangelist, he has taken up the challenge." U.S. News & World Report named him one of the "Top 25 Principle Architects of the American Century." Says grandson Rex Humbard III: "He was the ultimate role model in showing love and caring for other people over and above himself." [press release; CNN.com, 9/22/07]
Girlville Getaway Cruise
CARNIVAL PULLS THE PLUG ON GIRLVILLE CRUISE
After seven successful cruises with Carnival, Servant Heart Ministries received news from Carnival Cruise Lines stating they had closed the booking for our cruise dates of January 14-19,2008 sailing from Tampa to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. What a shock! We normally have till the end of the year, sometimes until the cruise itself.
Meaning – no further bookings for Girlville cruise as of September 2007 and cabins not filled were pulled and returned to Carnivals inventory immediately. That meant that, many of the churches and women who were pending, could not go with us, which was a large part of our group. So as a unit, we could not have our large meetings room, eat together, or even acquire any additional cabins, making this an impossible situation for us. Carnival offered no solutions, so as a result the Girlville Cruise had to be canceled.
We are outraged that Carnival pulled the plug on us after 7 cruises, and we did every-thing possible to make this years cruise happen. Servant Heart Ministries issued a full refund of all monies paid to date for the Girlville Cruise. We lose thousands in print-ing, marketing, and advertising. With over 10,000 Girlville Cruise brochures all over the country and tons of website advertising many are still inquiring about the cruise.
To the many who have called and registered to go, we ask that you accept our deepest apology for a situation out of our control, that has left us all frustrated beyond words.
